7月の終わりから取り掛かってきた番組が、あと少しで放送されます。プロデューサーにより、いつも関わり方や求められ方が違ってきますが、今回のプロデューサーは、編集の時点でも確認を求めたいタイプで、実は私はそういうやり方が好きです。
というのも、現場で撮影をして、実際にオンエアをみてみると、日本語がわからない人が編集をするため（私は常に、海外の制作を行っているので）、コメントのIN、OUTの位置がずれていたり、人の名前が間違っている時がたまにあるからです。
今回はインタビューの分量が多く、かつ、時間も迫っていたので、いつもお願いする翻訳者さん以外にも依頼をしました。すると、クオリティもまちまちで、それが確認できたのもよかったですね。結構私が手直しした部分も出てきましたし、やっぱり放送するからには良いクオリティのものを出したい。
今回のテーマは、私が日本国外に伝えたいとずっと感じてきたことの一つ。複数の、お話を伺いたいと思っていた方に、快く取材に応じていただきました。本当にやり甲斐のあるプロジェクトの一つになったと思います。まだコロナで今回もオンラインのやり取りだけですが、一緒に組んだ本国プロデューサーともかなり気が合い、彼女との仕事をまたしたいと思っています。
I'm almost there to finish with the show I've been working since the end of July. Every time how I am involved or required is different depending on who is a producer, and the producer this time wants me to check things during editing, and I actually like it better that way.
I've had shows with cutting comments at wrong timings because editors do not understand Japanese (I always produce foreign shows) or there are mistakes with names, etc. one in a while.
We had many people interviewing and didn't have so much time left, so we needed to ask new people to translate. Some were quite good, but some made mistakes and because I got a chance to hear all the interviews, I was able to correct some translation. I want to make show as best as we can.
The theme we are picking is one of the things I've wanted to tell outside Japan. I was honored to be able to ask some people I had been keen to talk to, and they accepted. It's been such a great opportunity to work on this project. The producer back in the country has been great company to work as a team. I'd love to work with her again!
